Young Shakespeareans take on the Baird’s “battle of the sexes” classic. With pointed wit and a critical eye, this adaptation offers a soulful, relevant response to our culture’s ingrained gender roles. This classic is brought to life by a cast and crew of over 50 Buffalo teenagers as diverse as the United Nations, who rise to the challenge to bring our city a professional, compelling production. When set on the streets of our own neighborhood, this play is as relevant today as it was four hundred years ago. While the original play flourishes on domestic violence and the ingrained roles of men and women, Peace Of The City sheds light on these issues and draws a powerful tie to the #metoo movement.

This is a “Pay What You Can” event so that everyone can fall in love with Shakespeare. It is also a first come, first seated basis—we have sold out in the past. This is our 10th season.

Teen-led Zieani Jewelry and Sanctuary Soaps will be on sale.  Desserts and beverages will be available for a modest donation.

“Shakespeare Comes to 716" is an initiative of Peace Of The City.
