Love vinyl? Stop by Record Theatre at Main & Lafayette for a chat with Jim Santella who will be there signing his new book, "Classic Rock Classic Jock." Don't miss this opportunity to meet a Buffalo legend who shares your nostalgia for the days of turntables and freeform radio! There's an entire chapter on his close encounter with David Bowie, Ramblin' Lou Schriver is in there, along with Joan Baez, Fats Domino, and more.

Jim Santella is Buffalo born and bred. Starting as a teenaged jazz musician, Jim's professional radio career began at Buffalo's first progressive radio station, WYSL-FM. Before retiring forty-five years later, the Buffalo Broadcaster's Hall of Famer would go on to host country, jazz and blues shows. He also worked extensively in TV production and became known for his music and theater reviews. Jim Santella is a velvet-voiced, soft spoken man with a wicked sense of humor.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Jim Santella takes you on a wild, decades-long radio rollercoaster ride. From rock ‘n roll to R&B, from country to the blues, Santella played it all. Get behind the mic to meet the man, and head backstage with him to meet many of the greats he interviewed, from Joan Baez to Jackson Browne, from David Bowie to Donald Fagan.

"Jim’s brilliance as a programmer and journalist is rooted in his deep knowledge of the artists and history of the music, his ability to find both common threads and contrasts and reveal what’s hiding layers below the surface. In my career my music has never been in better hands. And I have been honored to be his friend.” -Kelley Hunt

“Jim Santella is an essential personality in the history of Buffalo radio. During a career that spanned over 40 years, he was responsible for turning a lot of people on to a lot of great music. He’s also a very intelligent and entertaining guy who loves to spin a good story as much as he loved to spin records.” -Buck Quigley
