or the 29th time since February 2012, Hallwalls presents its twice year live drawing rally and online auction. A Mid Winter's Draw inserts itself into the dog days of the cold season as a warm, refreshing blast of creativity, good vibes, and abundant art purchasing possibilities. Participating artists will draw live in two 45-minutes sessions, after which drawings may be bid on for 24 hours via Hallwalls' Clickbid page.

The drawing rally is a fundraiser, a friendraiser, and a platform for our audience to get closer to the artists of our community and for the artists of our community to know each other better. The event is a level playing field—everyone starts with the same sheet of archival paper and, except for oils, most media are approved. Pencil, ink, watercolor, collage, selective printmaking—while we apply parameters to media, we remain expansive and elastic toward how a drawing is realized.

As curator John Massier explains, "Originally, I had presumed we would do one drawing rally per year but it was during the very first event that it became clear we would need to run the event as least twice a year. Too many artists and too much of the audience were enthused and clamoring for the next one. Hallwalls takes great pride that the event remains a favorite within our community and continues to draw both artists and audiences toward it with sustained enthusiasm. Artists range from young to senior and ultimately represent a wide range of mark-making and creativity. It will not take you long to find a work you love. Only your bidding courage determines whether or not a drawing comes home with you."

Following the event, all drawings are available for sale via draw.cbo.io. Bidding will continue through Thurs, February 26 @ 9pm.
