Be a part of breaking a Guinness world record by taking a FREE Learn to Ski or Learn to Snowboard Lesson at Holiday Valley at 1:00PM on January 6, 2017. Holiday Valley is joining with resorts across the country to introduce the great sports of skiing and riding to as many people as possible. Reservations required by calling 716-699-3505. Your lesson includes rental equipment, a first timer lesson and a beginner's area lift ticket. Available to anyone age 6 or older.

Plan to arrive at Holiday Valley and go to the Creekside Lodge, located slopeside of the Holiday Valley Lodge by noon at the latest. Bring your own clothing (base layer, insulating layer and weatherproof jacket and pants, weather proof mittens or gloves, goggles). You can rent a helmet here at the resort. Bring a pair of medium weight socks - not cotton - to wear during your time on the slopes. Anyone under 18 must have a parent to sign a legal form.

At Creekside you'll fill out a form that asks your age, weight and height. You'll get your boots at the rental counter and they'll help you make sure they're the right size. Then you'll get your skis and poles or snowboard that will be sized right for your height and ability. The beginner's area (called School Haus) is right outside the door and you'll be join a group of other beginners and get your own instructor. After your lesson your instructor will give you directions on where to go next, based on how far you progressed in your lesson. You'll also receive a "You Rip" card that gives you a discount on future lift, lesson and rental packages for a full year. Enjoy the experience and be sure to stop in Ellicottville on your way home to soak up the Apres atmosphere of a real resort town!
