High-energy swing with a rock n’ roll edge are the words that best describe the music and showmanship of the Bobby Lebel Orchestra - BLO. The stage show includes a fun, danceable mix of originals, select covers and onstage antics that
hearken back to the days of the 30’s big band era, 50’s sock hops and on through the 90’s in a celebration of great American music. “It sounds like Elvis Presley, Danny Gatton and Bobby Darin’s big band sound all rolled up in one,” exclaimed one local music fan. Infusing rockabilly, jazz, country, chicken pickin’ and straight ahead rockin’, it is a show to not miss.
A two-time inductee into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and a recognized Gretsch Guitar and Bigsby artist endorsee, Bobby is no stranger to playing live shows with over 3000 live performances under his belt. The son of a guitar playing country musician, Bobby’s ancestors performed in a family band two nights per week through the late 40’s and early 50’s injecting music into the fledgling musician’s soul.
Growing up in Connecticut, Bobby began songwriting and performing at a young age, which produced numerous CDs and accomplishments. His first release in the 80’s “Straight Boy”, on Durium Records in Milano, Italy contained all original songs penned by Bobby followed by “Purple Heart”, a solo record of original material on which he played all the instruments and vocals which resulted in a Nashville based publishing deal.
An exploration into Chicago style blues-rock including horns entitled “Runnin’ Blue” was followed up by his rockabilly swing trio “The Headers”. The trio released “Turn It Up” and “Don’t Be Talkin’ Smack” which displayed Bobby’s original material and received significant radio airplay and numerous raves by critics and fans. An additional release entitled “Bring Home The Headers For The Holidays” dispensed a selection of swinging holiday classic covers. With Bobby front and center as the front man, the group went on to perform festivals all over the US.
Utilizing Bobby’s recording studio to duplicate the energy of a live show, BLO promises you will want to hit the dance floor from the git go!
