Ray Weigel from the Niagara County Historical Society at each of its three locations, and  manager of the Erie Canal Discovery Center in Lockport, will  look at the need for – and construction of – the Erie Canal, with a focus on Lockport and the western end of the canal.  The audience should gain a new appreciation of how significant an achievement the Erie Canal was for New York and the United States.
