Independent Health presents a day of family-friendly fun with a variety of hands-on activities. Learn how to keep your family active through exercise and proper nutrition at the fifth annual Explore Together 

As part of Community Health Day, Independent Health will offer a variety of Explore Together activities throughout the Museum that focus on living a healthy lifestyle.

 Guests will enjoy health and nutrition quiz games and a prize wheel, a smoothie-making sample station with GObike Buffalo, and scavenger hunt inside Explore YOU, the Museum’s Health Sciences Studio. The Explore YOU Science Studio, presented by Independent Health, features interactive exhibits that provide a hands?on approach to health and highlights the most recent advances in medical technology.

New this year, pharmacists from Independent Health will be on-site for Explore Together activities. Guests will be able to visit the “Ask the Pharmacist” station and learn about poison prevention, proper antibiotic use and wintertime health issues such as asthma, colds, the flu, and ear infections. 

“Through our partnership with the Buffalo Museum of Science, Independent Health is able to offer activities that educate kids and their families about the importance of engaging in healthy behaviors,” said Michael W. Cropp, M.D, president and chief executive officer, Independent Health. “We believe it’s never too early to get active and start eating right, and Community Health Day demonstrates that learning about fitness and nutrition can be fun for the whole family. In addition, we’re excited that visitors will have the opportunity to talk with pharmacists from Independent Health about various medication-related topics, including how to best treat common illnesses and conditions that are prevalent this time of year.”

In addition to the Explore Together activities, other highlights of Community Health Day will include:
- Free blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and pulse oximetry screenings conducted by Catholic Health
- HIV and HCV testing and PrEP Outreach with Evergreen Health Services
 Appearances by Billy Buffalo and Buster Bison
- Giveaway bags to all guests while supplies last
- A grand-prize drawing for a $500 gift certificate to Bert’s Bikes and Fitness
