USTA Eastern Hosts Youth Tennis Leagues in Buffalo

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., (September 20, 2016) – USTA Eastern will host Youth Tennis Leagues (YTL) for six weeks on Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. starting October 1 at South Towns Tennis Club in Orchard Park, N.Y. YTL is a tennis program for children 7 – 12 years old that combines drills and match play.

The goal of YTL is to teach players of low to high intermediate levels how to prepare for a match. This enables young players to gain confidence and compete in a low-pressure setting so they can feel comfortable transitioning to Junior Team Tennis and tournaments in the near future.

The format of the YTL sessions includes:

•             Warm-up activity

•             One hour of instruction – to teach how, why and when to play the different shots and where to be positioned on the court

•             Match play – short sets (first to four games), “First to Five” point play, 7-point tie-breaks and 10-minute timed matches

•             Team based competition in a fun, relaxed environment

•             Six to one player to instructor ratio

This price for this program is $125 per child for six weeks.

To register for YTL, visit www.youthtennisleagues.com. For additional information, contact Joan Akpan, YTL director, at 718-258-4730 or youthtennisleagues@gmail.com.
