Meet ROAD TO AZURE

Linda King

Road To Azure singer Linda King says the one thing that has been constant in her life is music. Linda’s first memory of singing is around age 4 or 5 to some Beatles songs, from there she says she was hooked. Growing up in the sixties and seventies helped Linda’s musical influences to become vast and diverse. She says some of her biggest vocal influences are Jim Morrison of the Doors, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Al Green, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Etta James, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Raitt. “There are so many more great performers that influenced me it is it is difficult to list them all.” Linda’s soulful and bluesy voice has been compared to Maria Muldaur and Bonnie Raitt. She says, “When I'm not playing or performing I meditate and ponder life's mysteries.”

Barry DiGregorio

Barry DiGregorio has been playing and writing guitar music since he was 10 years old. His influences on guitar are many but says George Harrison, Peter Townsend, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter were among his earliest and most important. Barry has also studied old style slide guitar blues music by guitarists such as Muddy Waters, Elmore James and Buddy Guy. In contrast to his rock and bluesy guitar influences Barry has taken a liking to electronic music and composes his own brand of instrumental electronic guitar music. He has eight electronic synthesizer guitar albums out on iTunes, and one psychedelic rock album with the band Liquid Neptune. In 1995 NASA Space Shuttle pilot Eileen Collins took some of Barry’s original acoustic guitar music into space with her and again on a subsequent space mission. Not surprisingly, when not playing music, Barry studies and writes about the possibility of life on other planets for the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom.

How ROAD TO AZURE came into being:

Linda and Barry first starting jamming and playing music together in spring of 2013. From their first few jam sessions they knew they had something special going. As a duo, Linda sings and plays light percussion while Barry plays his guitar connected to two synthesizers linked together allowing him to play bass, piano, various horns and guitar all at the same time. Their unique sound and blending of R&B, Pop and blues make them one of the area’s most original cover bands. They also are working on their first original album together.
