Helping and caring for an aging senior can be a daunting task. There is a plethora of information, sometimes too much, on the web and elsewhere. Finding care options and resources is, in some ways, the easy part. But the true difficulty can come in the emotional challenges that arise in knowing when and how to intervene.

“There really is no right or wrong answer for assisting an aging senior,” says Adrienne Wolf, RN, BME, Health and Wellness Director at Wynwood Kenmore, a Brookdale senior living community, “every situation is unique and requires a unique solution. One of the chief fears seniors have about accepting help is that they will lose their independence. Paradoxically, the right amount of support actually increases independence, which is always the goal.”

Wynwood Kenmore is offering a free seminar to the public to learn about the signs of an older adult needing support, how to begin the conversation, and the best ways to plan for the future.

Join us on Wed., June 25, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Wynwood Kenmore, 2971 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, NY 14217. Call 716-874-3200 to register. Basket raffle and lunch provided. Free to attend.
