Witches, wizards, muggles and squibs are invited to Harry Potter Day @ the Library from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the downtown Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo. This magical celebration will feature fun, free activities for all ages, including the kickoff for Summer Reading: A Universe of Stories and a performance by international wizard rock band Harry and the Potters.

Activities will take place inside the library and, weather permitting, outdoors in Buffalo’s Reading Park in front of the library's Washington Street entrance. Attendees can be sorted into Hogwarts houses, answer trivia questions in the Triwizard Tournament, make crafts in Charms and Transfiguration classes, brew Felix Felicis in Potions, plant a mandrake in Herbology, have their fortunes told in Divination, learn about Care of Magical Creatures with Buffalo Animal Adventures, try their hand at Quidditch and more. Costumes are encouraged; there will be numerous photo ops as well as a costume contest. Nitro Magic will provide free iced cream on a first come, first served basis, and food trucks will be on site with refreshments at regular prices.

At 4 p.m. Harry and the Potters will perform a high-energy live show. Since founding the wizard rock genre in 2002, the band has released three albums and played over 800 shows in libraries, clubs, bookstores and basements around the world.
