Join the West Side Bazaar as they celebrate Jamaica Day on Saturday Aug. 15 from 12-3 p.m at 25 Grant St. The Bazaar will feature its newest vendor Marcus Tunstall of Mr. Patty's Jamaican Food as well as an option to try one of two sample platters for $10.

Tunstall moved into the Bazaar this past July. When the booth first opened, the menu consisted of a small but tasteful list of handmade Jamaican patties, filled with ingredients like beef, fish or curried chicken and mixed in with homemade spices. His new menu has expanded to include a variety of Jamaican specialties, such as jerk chicken and curried goat, the but the patties remain a staple of the menu.

At a young age, Tunstall learned to cook by watching family members prepare meals during the holidays. Eventually he joined them in the kitchen and helped with cleaning, peeling and cutting. This Saturday will be a chance for him to show off those cooking skills.

Sample platters offered this Saturday are:

Choice One: Jerk chicken with rice and peas, planteen, Jamaican spiced cabbage and your choice of patty.

Choice Two: Curried goat with rice, spiced cabbage, planteen and your choice of patty.

The afternoon will be accompanied by the live reggae jams of Ishmail and Company.
