We invite you to the opening reception of Retro, an exhibition of works by Award-winning artist Heather M. Johnson, on 12 June 2019, from 6-9pm. The title refers to her shift away from painting to colored pencil drawing. The term "retro" puts a positive spin on items of the past (and present) as well as experiences.

The vibrant colors of her paintings express the visceral responses in her spiritual connection to self and nature. She admires the intuitive qualities of abstraction for both artists and viewers. This exhibition is a reflection on her process and memories as she explores a new medium. As we all learn and grow, letting go of old patterns makes space to think and act in new ways.

The works of Heather M. Johnson have most notably been exhibited at Burchfield Penny Arts Center, Artspace, Silo City, Starlight Studios, Gallery 1045, and Impact Gallery in Buffalo, Garden Gallery at Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, Niagara Falls, NY, and Carnegie Arts Center, North Tonawanda.
