Exhibition and Sale

June 20–September 5, 2015

At CEPA Gallery

CEPA Gallery, in partnership with Dean Brownrout Modern/Contemporary, is honored to present an exhibition and sale of photographic artwork by artist Hollis Frampton. The event takes place June 20-September 5, 2015 at CEPA Gallery.

The exhibition and sale is the first comprehensive survey of the late artist’s print work in over 30 years. Many pieces in the exhibit have never been presented in a gallery setting.

Included in CEPA’s exhibit are early photos by Frampton of his artist friends and roommates. While living in New York City in the late 1950s and early ‘60s, he made candid portraits of Larry Poons, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, and others—before any of them ascended to their place on the artistic world stage.

Also included in this exhibition and sale are rare xerographic works—created during the advent of the color copier—showcasing Frampton’s pioneering work, making art with this new technology.

A festive opening night event takes place at 7 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at CEPA Gallery’s Market Arcade location.

In addition, there are simultaneous supporting exhibitions and events featuring film, music, and visiting guest speakers, presented in collaboration with multiple area arts organizations.

See the downloadable schedule below for a detailed list of opening night and summer events.

This is an exceptional, community-wide celebration of the multidisciplinary work and legacy of Hollis Frampton.

Contact CEPA Gallery at 716-856-2717 to purchase works in this exhibition.
