In celebration of Earth Day, local artists and owners have built window displays from upcycled material for the Green Window City project. Western New Yorkers can come out to enjoy the art, support local, and #rethinkjunk.

The GWC project will be displayed for the community, highlighting local businesses and artists. It’s supported by the Air & Waste Management Association - Niagara Frontier Section and artists: Andrew Emerson of Emerson James, Ani Hoover, Artbox Collective, Jaime Schmidt, Katie Gariepy, Samantha Epps with Khrista Tabak, and Sara Lusky DiNatale of Beautiful Tuesday.

GWC is a collaborative effort to build art installations in shop windows with upcycled elements diverted from the waste stream, creating a pop-up gallery walk atmosphere. Documented from planning to building to debut, this teamwork further supports our community’s united effort for conscious, even creative, waste diversion.

Elmwood Village will host the pilot project, supported by eight businesses: The Elmwood Village Association, Fuse Salon & Gallery, Hunt Real Estate, Kallista For Hair, Lexington Co-operative Market, Lloyd Tacos, Red Door Real Estate, and Thin Ice Gift Shop. Mapped at: http://tinyurl.com/GWCxBUF
