Albright. You've heard the name, but who was he? Mark Goldman has written a beautiful biography of one of Buffalo's least known leaders. In ALBRIGHT: The Life and Times of John J. Albright, he delves deep into the mysterious turn-of-the-century Buffalo industrialist and philanthropist who did much for the city but left few artifacts and much mystery behind.

You will learn that John J. Albright brought steel to Buffalo, harnessed the power of Niagara Falls, underwrote much of the Pan American Exposition, found Nichols School, and gave Buffalo its treasured Albright Art Gallery. You will also learn that there is still much that we simply cannot know about this titan. The riches to rags story of this man who gave so much and lost it all before he died in 1931 is a fascinating tale.

Come to Old Editions bookstore on Huron Street before it closes the doors on its remarkable collection of rare books and collectibles, and have your copy of ALBRIGHT: The Life and Times of John J. Albright signed by Buffalo's chief historian, Mark Goldman.

Light refreshments and lots of local history will be on tap.
