Let me begin by apologizing for not submitting picks last week for week 2. The dreaded "technical difficulties" prevented me from posting, so we will just call it a wash. Regarding the friendly picks competition between myself and sports director, Mike Walter, we will also throw out last week.

On to the week 3 picks. Is it just me or does the NFL season fly by? A few quick observations...Yes, those are boos you here ringing all over Southeastern Pennsylvania as the Eagles lose two in a row at home after rolling the Redskins in week 1, and being the talk of the league. That offensive looked fast against the Chiefs on Thursday night, but fast doesn’t matter when you're constantly turning the ball over, and your defensive looks like a sieve. Chip Kelly needs to figure it out in a hurry before this season looks the same as last season for the Eagles. What is going on in Tampa? After completely blowing the game against the Jets in week one, they go into complete meltdown mode, lose a heartbreaker at home to the Saints, and the players wish head coach Greg Schiano would go back to Jersey. Did he really rig the captain’s vote so starting QB Josh Freeman wouldn't win? Who knows, but Schiano also better get control of his team quickly. Even consummate pro, Darrelle Revis, is taking jabs against Schiano. Lastly, kudos to the Seattle Seahawks for not missing a beat so far, and easily handling the Niners 29-3 last week. In all honesty, I loved seeing Jim Harbaugh take that loss. The guy is a good coach, maybe even more than good, but his act and attention seeking behavior is getting old. Way to sit him down Hawks!

(Home team in caps, with Mike's picks in parentheses)

COWBOYS (-3.5) over Rams- Tough loss for Dallas in Kansas City last week against a better than expected Chiefs teams. I'll lay the points this week as the Cowboys return home and the defense gives Sam Bradford fits, and Romo has his best game of the young season. (Rams)

VIKINGS (-6.5) over Browns- The Browns packed it in for the season after trading Trent Richardson to the Colts. Bernie Kosar may be starting at QB. I'll take the Vikings at home all day. (Vikings)

TENNESSEE (-3) over Chargers- A better matchup than expected. Both teams are playing good ball, and both should be 2-0. I'll lay the points. (Chargers)

Bucs (+8.5) over PATRIOTS- This Pats team looks nothing like the dominant teams of recent years, and they have nobody to pass the ball to. I know the Bucs are in shambles, but give me the points and a backdoor cover. (Bucs)

SAINTS (-9) over Cardinals- I think the Saints put it all together for an offensive explosion in the Superdome. (Cardinals)

Lions (+1) over REDSKINS- Calvin Johnson vs the worst pass defense in the league. Enough said. (Lions)

PANTHERS (+1) over Giants- One of these teams is going to start 0-3, and all hell will break loose. Give me the home team and Cam Newton to finally put forth a strong effort. (Giants)

RAVENS (+1) over Texans- Tough task for Baltimore, but I like the defense to improve and hold on to the victory. Bernard Pierce has two scores starting in place of injured Ray Rice. (Texans)

Falcons (+1) over DOLPHINS- Yeah the Dolphins are a bit improved, but I like them to fall back to earth with a loss at home by a FG late in the 4th. (Falcons)

Bills (+1) over JETS- Would you expect anything else? EJ, CJ, and SJ keep it rolling. (Bills)

NINERS (-10) over Colts- The Niners were embarrassed on national TV last week. That doesn't bode well for the visiting Colts. Niners defensive with monster effort. I'll lay the points. (Niners)

Jags (+19) over SEAHAWKS- I know this the mismatch of mismatches, but I can't lay this many points in the NFL. I'll take the Jags to cover.

Enjoy the games folks. We'll have a recap on Monday with Monday Night Football picks. Go Bills!
