When the weather turns cooler, one of the first accessories that people gravitate towards is a scarf.  Scarves are not a new thing.  They’ve been around for decades, helping men and women alike look fashionable while also protecting their necks from the sharp sting of the cold winter air.  But what IS a new thing, is the concept of a blanket scarf.  A blanket scarf is exactly what it sounds like:  a scarf that is also large enough to double as a blanket!   Genius, right?!?

Blanket scarves can come in a few sizes, from the manageable slightly larger-than normal scarf to the gigantic “oh my God this is really a blanket that I am using as a scarf.”  I have been personally gravitating to the gigantic blanket scarves, as I tend to run a little colder and am always looking for that extra layer of warmth.  I definitely would never go all Lenny Kravitz though; that’s just TOO crazy.

New to the blanket scarf trend?  Here are a few style tips to get you started!
  1.  Double up the scarf around your neck as you would a normal sized scarf.  There will be a lot more volume to this look.  This will keep your neck super toasty warm!  There are many ways to tie the scarf around your neck.  One of my favorites is tying the two ends together to form an infinity scarf!
  2. Throw the blanket scarf around your shoulders like a shall or a poncho.  Because the scarf is so much larger than normal, the extra fabric will provide you with tons of coverage.  This would be great to do with a pair of skinny jeans and a lighter top.
  3. Drape the scarf around your neck and shoulders and cinch it around your waist with a belt.  This is a great look to pull together with a longer, loose fisherman’s knit sweater and leggings.  The belt around the waist gives some dimension to your body while still feeling super cozy and warm.  Very fashion-forward!
