One of the ways to make your home a unique and interesting place is to furnish it with second-hand, salvaged, and one-of-a-kind pieces like those you can find at local shops like Gothic City Architectural Antiques. Located on Niagara Street, the company has been open since 1971 and sells a large variety of items in more than 20,000 square feet of retail space. If you are used to shopping new, try something old and you might surprise yourself with a creative and meaningful conversation piece of your own.

You can find stained and leaded glass windows, large columns, church and theater seating, and a number of iron and outdoor items. Plus lighting, old toys and household items, mantels, and religious artifacts. Their website shows what is available in a dozen different categories so you can see photos before you visit.

Recently on a visit I spotted children's furniture, old telephones, lamps, games, statues, and a huge variety of outdoor furniture and decor that are not available at the usual big box stores like urns and metal gates. Many of the items are old and could be repurposed into modern decor and functional pieces for home, office or retail display.  Gothic City is open Thursday through Sundays from 11:00am - 5:00pm. Find them on Facebook and on their website.
