Discover how flowers speak without words. In this creative workshop, you’ll explore floriography, the historical language of flowers, where each bloom carries a unique meaning. After learning the symbolism behind different flowers, you’ll translate a chosen message into your own linocut design. This welcoming, hands-on workshop will introduce you to the basics of linocut printmaking, guiding you through each step of the process to create your own beautiful prints.

Meet your instructor, Liz!

Liz Gatto is a new face at the Botanical Gardens, joining our team in April of 2023 as our Educator and Program Coordinator. Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with Museum Studies from Niagara University. She is passionate about museum education and is excited to bring her creativity to the Botanical Gardens. Prior to joining the team, Liz worked in the department of Art and Family Programs for several years at Artpark in Lewiston, NY and has interned with multiple galleries including the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Liz is also an artist herself, her love for botany and nature shines through her personal artwork. She is very much looking forward to getting the public inspired by the gardens and offering creative workshops. In her spare time Liz enjoys drawing, painting, traveling, drinking coffee, visiting museums, and taking care of her many houseplants!
