The McGuire Group, operator of five nursing and rehabilitation facilities in WNY, is offering a free community forum titled Coping with Caregiving: A Caregiver’s Role in Palliative Care on Tuesday, May 7 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew. The event will begin at 8:30 am with registration and a full buffet breakfast. The program will run from 9 am – 11 am. The expert panel will discuss a variety of topics including what is palliative care, emotional aspects of caregiving, faith in times of stress and exercise, breathing and relaxation techniques.

The program is being presented as part of The McGuire Group’s Journeys palliative care program available at its four Erie County locations including:  Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville and Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca. The Journeys program is designed to meet the needs, priorities and choices of individuals in the final stages of life. This involves recognizing patient individuality and fulfilling wishes as they relate to comfort, care and treatment. Monthly bereavement support groups are also available.
