Harmonia Chamber Singers presents Into Light

Sunday, March 1, 2020

7:00 pm

St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral

139 Pearl St. Buffalo, NY 14202

Harmonia continues its fourteenth season with a program of beautiful and inspiring music under the direction of our acclaimed conductor, Robert Duerr. We invite you to experience the professional artistry of Western New York's premier vocal ensemble in the captivating atmosphere of candlelight.

Maestro Duerr poignantly describes Into Light:

“After having sung our Christmas concerts ‘in the bleak midwinter’ — when we celebrated the Christ Child as the Light of the world — we approach our March concert, Into Light, singing of twinkling stars, the Northern Lights, the shining sun, of events both cosmic and spiritual. Such a unique concert takes place a week before beginning Daylight Saving Time.

“This concert also explores what light exposes: ‘behold and see’ the darkness that falls upon us; that is sorrowful; lacks light that breaks people and oppresses life; issues both sacred and secular describing prevailing darkness, yet coming into light.”

“Set in the beauty of St. Paul’s Cathedral, enhanced with special lighting, musical selections encompass the Renaissance to present day composers. This is an event intended to be enlightening at many levels: artistically, musically, spiritually, and emotionally. Life is too short to be left in the dark."
