The 5th annual Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival.

Saturday is Music Day. Music is Art brings Japan Rock musicians ‘The Molice,’ Taiko drummers, haiku, dance, Dj’s and spoken word performers. And of course, pink boat rides. 

Saturday, May 5 schedule:

Live art featuring Chris Main, Vinny Alejandro, Thomas Webb, Kelly Kresconko, and Mark Adamusik. Live DJ sets featuring DJ Bud Redding, Brandon Curry, and Josh Santoro. Food trucks and Pink boat rides.

‘Cherry Blossom Challenge’ Orienteering

On Sunday, navigate your way on a 2.8 km course that starts and ends at the Japanese Garden traversing Delaware Park including the History Museum, Hoyt Lake, Marcy Casino, Rose Garden, Rumsey Woods, Mirror Lake and the Japanese Garden.

Register and start at 11:00 am near the Buffalo History Museum on Nottingham Terrace near Elmwood Avenue. Designed for any experience level, walkers or runners. Instruction available. Register in advance to guarantee a map. A limited number of additional maps will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. $10 registration fee ($5 members) includes instruction, meet and 5-color map.  Questions about the event? Sunday, May 6th is Family Day. 12:00-3:00pm

Celebrate the festival inside the museum and outside in the Garden including puppet shows, origami and crafts for children. Participate in a pink parade, dance the May Pole or visit the Instrument Zoo provided by Music is Art. Food trucks and Pink boat rides.

12:30pm: 'The Bamboo Princess' a Japanese fairytale Puppet Show

  2:00pm:  Traditional Japanese Folk Puppetry demonstration; featuring Bunraku and Kuruma Ningyo puppetry

  3:00pm: Pink Parade
