Rowhouse Reads is a joint venture between Rowhouse Bakery & Restaurant and Just Buffalo Literary Center. Every other month we will gather together, share our thoughts, break bread, and chat.

For our second meeting, we are reading a collection of essays, "They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us" (Two Dollar Radio, 2017), written by Hanif Abdurraqib who will be July 21st’s Silo City Reading Series guest.

In an age of confusion, fear, and loss, Hanif Abdurraqib’s is a voice that matters. Whether he’s attending a Bruce Springsteen concert the day after visiting Michael Brown’s grave, or discussing public displays of affection at a Carly Rae Jepsen show, he writes with a poignancy and magnetism that resonates profoundly.

Our moderator is Noah Falck. He is author of the poetry collections "Snowmen Losing Weight" and "Exclusions" (forthcoming – Tupelo Press, 2020) as well as several chapbooks including "You Are In Nearly Every Future". He also co-edited "My Next Heart: New Buffalo Poetry" (BlazeVOX Books, 2017). He currently spends his summers mentoring young writers as a faculty member in the Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop. Now living in Buffalo, New York, he works as Education Director at Just Buffalo Literary Center and curates the Silo City Reading Series, a multimedia poetry series in a 130-foot abandoned grain elevator.

The Facts: $20/$15 for members (cash). Admission includes a selection of bread boards, pizza, coffee, tea, beer or wine. A portion of proceeds will benefit Just Buffalo Literary Center. Additional food and drink can be purchased from the restaurant.

Limited to 20 people.
