This unique, two-day fine art fair brings together artists, collectors (from beginning to advanced), dealers, entrepreneurs, food/beverage vendors, sponsors, and the public.  A mere $5 entrance fee (10&Under enter free) gets you in to the Fair, and a portion of the entrance fees will benefit the site-specific participating artists and architects. 

Schedule of Events:

FRIDAY, MAY 13, 2016

Private Collections Tour

10:00 am – 2:00 pm

echo Art fair commences with its signature Private Collections Tour, which includes an exclusive visit of a local private art collection, a tour of Dennis Maher's Fargo House, and a guided tour of, and lunch at, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Space is limited to 30 people. Email echoartfair@gmail.com to reserve your space and to receive information about the tour logistics. The cost is $75 per person, which includes lunch; or, $100 which includes the Private Collections Tour and lunch, and a Preview Party preview party ticket.

 

Preview Party

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

OSC Manufacturing and Equipment Services, 1001 E. Delavan, Buffalo, NY 14215

Preview Party attendees have the opportunity to get a first look at, and to purchase, artwork. Site-specific installations, including live performances, and Light Industry will be unveiled. Jon Williams, owner of OSC, will provide a guided tour of the facility at 7 pm (meet at the check-in desk at 6:45 pm), which will be followed by an introduction to Light Industry by Jordan Geiger/participating architects. Local vendors, including Ashker's, Tipico, Same Old Antics, Plume Coffee, Lloyd Taco Truck, Pizza Amore, West Side Bazaar, The Black Market Food Truck, The Louisiana Cookery, Flaming Fish, and Try-It Distributing will be on hand to serve food and beverages. echo Art Fair

Local vendors, including Ashker's, Tipico, Same Old Antics, Plume Coffee, Lloyd Taco Truck, Pizza Amore, West Side Bazaar, The Black Market Food Truck, The Louisiana Cookery, Flaming Fish, and Try-It Distributing, will be on hand to serve food and beverage. Light Industry

For the first time, echo Art Fair incoporates architecture into its fine art fair. Light Industry, coordinated and curated by Jordan Geiger, Professor at UB's School of Architecture + Planning, will occupy the Albert Kahn-designed space of OSC. Four full scale architectural installations have been commissioned by four architects or architect teams.

 

Site-Specific Installations

The installations, curated and coordinated by Rachel Adams, Associate Curator for UB Art Galleries, encompass a panopoly of art forms, including sculpture, painting, dance and mixed-media. All works will be positioned in and/or take place around OSC. A map of the installations will be available at the fair. echo/UB Art Galleries will administer a People’s Choice Prize, to be chosen by popular vote by echo attendees. Rachel Adams will lead a tour of the site-specific installations at 11 am. Meet at the front desk at 10:45 am to participate. Free with fair entrance

 

echo Art Fair Panel Discussions (in collaboration with, and moderated by, Elizabeth Licata, Associate Publisher of Buffalo Spree Magazine)

3:00 pm “Why Regional Art Is Hot”: A discussion of popular and interesting artists who lived and worked in Western New York throughout the twentieth century—and whose work is still available—including Robert Blair, Alexis Fournier, Amos Sangster, Alexander Levy, Virginia Tillou, Howard Beach, and others. With Burchfield Penney Art Center chief curator Scott Propreack and curator Tullis Johnson.

5:00 pm “Collecting Art - All The Angles”: A panel discussion on how to make collecting successful for everyone—the buyers, the sellers, and the artists. Participants: Emily Tucker, Benjamin Gallery/Benjamin Contemporary Gallery, John Farina, Maria Neil Art Project, Cleveland, Shasti OLeary-Soudant, artist, Peter Stephens, artist, and Joel Levin, collector.

7:00 pm “Navigating the Art/Fair World”: a session for dealers and artists to learn more about getting ahead in the art world via interaction with, and paying site visits to, exhibitors at this year's echo Art Fair, who have significant experience in the fine art world. Site visit participants include Glenn Wexler (Chicago, IL)/Paul Weston (Brooklyn, NY) and David C. Smith/Miller Gallery. All panels are free with fair entrance.

 

echo Art/Party

8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

A party set up with the sole purpose to help deepen connections among exhibitors of echo 2016, fair attendees, members of the local creative/art scene, etc. Hosted by echo Art Fair. Cash bar. 21+.
