After a seemingly endless summer in Buffalo, fall is certainly in full swing,  and we could not be more excited about it. Not only does fall mean Football, Pumpkin Beers and not sweating your face off, it also means we can start layering our outfits and putting together some stellar looks. There are a handful of essential wardrobe staples for fall and Buffalo Dandy has put together a list of our top 5 must have pieces for the start of the season. Layering this time of year of crucial, in that the mornings usually start out cold and warm up slightly as the day goes on. But enough jibber jabber, let's get on with the list.

Jackets - The first thing you're going to need is a light to mid-weight jacket. There are a plethora of options available, but we tend to go with the longer silhouette like the mac jacket, tweed overcoat, or the always in style military jacket. You can find each of these a wide range of price points, so it will take a little time to find one that not only fits right, but is also within your budget. Once you do a little research, these coats will last you year after year. Banana Republic Mac Jacket | H&M Tweed Overcoat | J.Crew Field Jacket

Sweaters - Ah, easily one of my favorite things about fall! While I usually go for the classic shawl collar cardigan, I've recently been really into wear more robe style sweaters for a more relaxed look. While this isn't for everyone, it's certainly been gaining a lot of traction in the fashion world. I encourage you to at least give it a try, but maybe skip the $1,000 Visvim kimono if you're not sure.. of course if anyone feels like buying this for me I'll totally be your best friend. Abercrombie Shawl Cardigan | Visvim Sanjuro Coat | Zara Cardigan

Henelys - While we certainly are a fan of button down shirts, there is something about the rugged Henley shirt that we (and our significant others) can't get enough of. Great for layering or for on their own, these shirts are perfect for fall and go great with a simple necklace or under a jacket. Just be sure to leave a few buttons undone to maximize the shirts manliness. Abercrombie Henley | J.Crew Garment Washed Henley | J. American Vintage Brushed Henley

Denim - Whether you're into Selvedge, Distressed or Stretch styles, it truly is a great time for denim. With a style for every preference, one of the more exciting things to come out of the denim world is how companies have perfected the stretch denim so the jeans are still heavy with just a slight amount of stretch to make them extremely comfortable. Of course nothing beats the perfect pair of raw denim jeans which you can break in to make your very own, or if you're like us and get a little impatient, companies have now started breaking in the jeans for you so they'll look great right out of the box! APC New Cure | Norman Russell Cookie Caleb Wash | J.Crew 484 Stretch

Footwear - We're hoping by now you've already secured your L.L.Bean Boots, so we won't bother mentioning them in this post. However, there some great hybrid shoes coming out this fall where companies have been mixing classic silhouettes and materials and turning them on their heads to make some incredible looking footwear. Of course, the classics will never go out of style, but it might also be fun to try something new this fall, which for us would the Clark Wallabee boot. Clark Wallabee Boot | Aiden Weejuns Sneaker | Saucony Shadow Original
